Cougars Fall to Arizona in Series-Opener

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State dropped its series-opener to Arizona 21-4 at Bailey-Brayton Field Thursday evening.
 
The Cougars received three hits from Anthony Notaro, an RBI-single from Grant DeLappe and an RBI-double from Danny Sinatro who extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Arizona collected 24 hits and jumped out to 9-1 advantage and didn't look back, receiving seven strong innings from starter Randy Labaut.
 
Arizona jumped out to an early lead with a run in the first and three more in the second before WSU plated a run on a Rob Teel sacrifice fly in the second inning. The Wildcats broke things open with a five-run third inning, four more in the fifth and three in the sixth.
 
The Cougars pushed a run across with an RBI-double from Sinatro in the fifth and another in the seventh on DeLappe's RBI-single.
