WEEK PREVIEW
The Cougars return to Bohler Gym to host the No. 15 ranked Utah Utes Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. live on the Pac-12 Network (Washington). WSU downed Utah earlier this season on the road at Salt Lake City, in five sets at 3-2 overall. NATIONAL RANKINGS
The week 11 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll moves up WSU to No. 22 overall after picking up wins over both Oregon State and Oregon. The Pac-12 overall currently has five teams ranked in the top 25 as Stanford (4), Washington (13), Utah (15), California (20), and the Cougars all represent the conference. The RichKern poll sees WSU up to No. 19 this week, and the Pablo Rankings bumps up Washington State to No. 14 overall as well.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alexis Dirige was selected as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 4-Nov. 10. The libero from San Francisco, Calif. continued to anchor the WSU defense this past week, helping the Cougars pick up road wins over both Oregon State and Oregon. Washington State swept the Ducks of Oregon in the regular season for the first time since 2003, and this was the first time since 2002 the Cougars swept both the Oregon schools as well. Dirige recorded 37 total digs in two match ups for Washington State, to see her career total increase to 2,047 overall. Alexis, who became WSU's all-time career digs leader a week ago, jumped up to 10th all-time in Pac-12 history in total career digs as well. Alexis posted 19 digs against Oregon State, as well as adding 18 against the Ducks of Oregon. She also recorded one service ace to claim the 10th all-time spot in Washington State volleyball history in career services aces with 88 total.
