Men’s Golf Travels East for The Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational

| By:
THIS WEEK – Washington State Men's Golf looks to bounce back at the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, WV hosted by West Virginia University. The two-day tournament, Oct. 7-8, will be played at the par-72, 7,308-yard Pete Dye Golf Club. The Cougars begin their tournament off the first three tees in a shotgun start alongside of UConn and the host Mountaineers beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET).

THE FIELD – The 15-team tournament will include WSU, No. 25 West Virginia, Akron, UConn, Davidson, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, George Washington, James Madison, Marshall, Townson, Southern Mississippi, Rice, Xavier, and Youngstown State.

COACH WHITE ON THE TOURNAMENT - "We're excited you get back on the road and compete again. We'll see some new teams and faces, which will be a good challenge for the guys. It's a solid golf course and will provide a neat experience for all the players. We're looking forward to putting into action what we learned from our first event and continuing to improve as we go."

THE LINEUP – Representing the Cougars will be senior Daniel Kolar, junior Ryan Maine, senior Nicklaus Chiam, freshman Tianyu Wu, senior Scott Redelsperger, and freshman Christian Yanagi competing as an individual.

LAST TIME ON THE COURSE – The Cougars opened up their season back in September at the Husky Invitational and were led by senior Daniel Kolar. Kolar shot a 139 (-5) through two rounds and marked his first career pair of under-par rounds. His career day put him in a tight race for the top finishing just one stroke behind a quartet of players through the first day. Day two of the Husky Invitational was called due to weather as Kolar finished tied for fifth for the tournament. The Cougars finished in 13th place, carding a 597 (+21).

COACHES - Dustin White continues to lead the Cougars in his fourth season as the head coach, after spending four years on the Cougar golf team from 1999-2003. Kevin Tucker continues to assist White in his second year as an assistant coach after playing for the Cougars from 2006-10.
