Volleyball to host Arizona and Arizona State inside Bohler Gym this weekend.

WEEK PREVIEW
WSU will begin this week with a Pac-12 matchup against the Wildcats of Arizona inside Bohler Gym at 7 p.m. Arizona currently leads the all-time series between these two programs at 46-19, along with winning last year's contest at Pullman, 3-2. Washington State has had the more recent success over UA, winning the last four out of five matches. 

The Cougars will then take on the Sun Devils of Arizona State at home inside Bohler Gym, with first serve slated for noon. ASU does hold the overall series lead at 35-30 over WSU, but the Cougars have won the last five contests over the Sun Devils. With regards to those previous five consecutive WSU victories over Arizona State, three of them have come within the walls of Bohler Gym. 

NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Cougars are moving up in the week seven American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Poll, ranked at No. 21 overall after going 2-0 the previous week against Oregon and Oregon State. The RichKern polls sees WSU jumping up to No. 20 overall this week, and the Pablo Rankings has the Cougars moving up as well to No. 21 overall in line with the AVCA.

PAC-12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Washington State's Magda Jehlářová was selected as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 7-Oct. 13 as announced by the Pac-12 Conference office Monday. The freshman middle from Prerov, Czech Republic continued to be a dominate defensive force for the Cougars, as WSU picked up wins at home over both Oregon and Oregon State. The victory over the Ducks was the first inside Bohler Gym since 2005, and the Cougars sweeping both Oregon schools at home last happened in 2002 as well. She went on to post 14 total blocks in the two matches, 1.75 blocks per set, and added 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .400 overall to help fuel WSU to victory.

LAST TIME OUT
WSU volleyball continued to protect their home court of Bohler Gym, defeating the Beavers of Oregon State 3-1 Sunday afternoon. Set scores from the match were: 25-21, 25-21, 18-25, and 25-18 in favor of the Cougars (15-3, 4-2 Pac-12). Pia Timmer led the Cougars in total kills this afternoon with 13, and posted a hitting percentage of .297 overall. Jocelyn Urias turned in a fantastic performance with 10 kills, a .529 hitting percentage, one ace, and three total blocks. Magda Jehlářová also contributed on both sides of the ball with 10 kills, hit .533 overall, and recorded a match-high seven total blocks.
