PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State volleyball downed the Ducks of Oregon Friday evening, inside Bohler Gym in four sets to pick up Pac-12 win number three this season..
Set scores from the match were: 25-17, 22-25, 25-22, and 25-13 in favor of WSU (14-3, 3-2 Pac-12).
The Cougars were determined to protect their home court within Bohler Gym, jumping out to a 7-3 lead over Oregon (5-9, 1-4 Pac-12). A 6-0 scoring run from WSU continued the dominance, with kills from
Jocelyn Urias,
Penny Tusa, and
Alexcis Lusby helping the Cougars flex their offensive muscles. Tusa continued to be on fire the remainder of this opening set, recording three consecutive kills to extend the home lead out to 22-13 overall.
Pia Timmer finished off Oregon with a kill for the 25-17 set win to take the early match lead.
Set number two in this conference match featured a much tighter score as the Cougars posted a 3-0 run to take an early 7-6 lead, fueled by a
Magda Jehlářová solo block. The Ducks began to gain momentum after a 6-1 run to hold a 14-10 advantage over WSU. Multiple kills from Urias kept it close for Washington State, with the score set at 17-15 in favor of Oregon. The Cougars found a bit of rhythm after creating a 4-0 scoring run to see the score tied up at 19-19. The Ducks however regrouped for a 5-1 run over WSU to claim set two at 25-22.
Washington State's offensive attack found its' grove once again in set three as Lusby, Urias, and Timmer came out firing early in this game. This match featured both programs countering each other, as eight ties occurred, leading up to the score being knotted up at 18-18 midway through the contest. Jocelyn began to take over late in this set to help light a spark for WSU, recording three kills in the last five points for the Cougars, to win it at 25-22 for the 2-1 overall match lead.
Home court advantage was in full effect during set four of this contest, as four of the first eight points for the Cougars came from blocks, which the combined efforts of Tusa and Urias generated three of those. This final set was all Washington State, with a 10-1 scoring run to put WSU up 20-7, and in full control of Oregon. The blocks continued during this large run, as the Cougars posted four additional stops from Jehlářová, Timmer, and
Charity Bradley. WSU capitalized off three consecutive Oregon errors to finish the match at 25-13 for the victory.
STAT OF THE MATCH
The win against Oregon tonight was the first over the Ducks inside Bohler Gym since 2005, when the Cougars picked up the victory in five sets.

MATCH NOTES
- Jocelyn Urias had herself a night with 14 total kills, a .464 hitting percentage, and a season-high seven total blocks to help lead WSU to victory.
- Penny Tusa and Pia Timmer found themselves with double-digit kills, as each totaled 11, a season-high for Tusa.
- Both Tusa and Timmer posted double-doubles against the Ducks, as Penny tallied 14 digs, and Pia provided 12 total as well.
- Hannah Pukis continued to guide the offensive attack with 43 overall assists, and added 14 digs for the double-double.
- Magda Jehlářová posted seven total blocks on the night also, along with adding seven kills to her stat line.
- The Cougars are back in action this Sunday, Oct. 13, as WSU will host the Beavers of Oregon State in a Pac-12 matchup, with first serve set for 12 p.m.
