Second Round of Husky Invitational Postponed Due to Darkness

The second round of play at Aldarra will resume Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - The Washington State men's golf team is in fourth place midway through the second round of the Husky Invitational, Tuesday, at Aldarra Golf Course. A morning fog delay led to the second round being cut short due to darkness.

"Regardless of the fog delay, we need to step up and hit the shots when it's our turn," said head coach Dustin White.

The course proved to be difficult, as no teams shot under par in the first two rounds. Tournament-host Washington led the 12 teams on the green scoring 6-over par before play was cut short. The Cougars are 34 strokes above par, eight strokes away from Nevada in third and one stroke ahead of Long Beach State and Sweden in fifth.

"This golf  course challenges you in every way and we knew it was going to be difficult," said White.

Senior AJ Armstrong and juniors Daniel Kolar and Nicklaus Chiam are currently leading the charge for Washington State, all currently tied for 17th after each shot 5-over par on the day. Both senior Grant Cole, tied for 38th, and sophomore Ryan Maine, tied for 41st, improved their placings by 20 spots each by both playing even through the start of the second round. Scott Redelsperger is currently in a tie for 59th place, shooting 17-over par.

"The guys dug deep this afternoon and are putting together a solid second round," said White. "They will need that same mindset tomorrow from start to finish."

The second round will resume Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. The teams will immediately begin the third round after the conclusion of the second. Check golfstat.com for live scoring. A full-recap of the tournament will be posted at wsucougars.com after the conclusion of the third round.
