Cougars Head to Utah for Final Regular Season Meet

The Washington State swim team travels to Salt Lake City to take on the Utes from Utah. The meet begins at 10 a.m. The Cougars are looking for their fourth straight win against the Utes, as the overall record is 3-3. Last season, the Cougars beat Utah 151-111 in Pullman, Wash. The last time the Cougars traveled to Salt Lake City, the Cougars defeated the Utes in a close 149-145 battle.

LAST TIME IN THE POOL
For the sixth straight year, the Cougars recorded a victory over Oregon State, claiming a 163-74. Seniors Anna Brolin, Rachel Thompson and Talisa Wibmer combined to post three individual and two relay wins. Thompson led the way with two wins in the 50 and 100 free. Brolin took first in the 100 fly. All three seniors were members of the winning 400 free relay team. Freshman Emily Cook added the Gibb Pool record to her resume with a first-place time of 54.51; and now holds both the school and pool records in the event. Clothilde Peseux, Ryan Falk, and Jasmine Margetts each finsihed with two wins. Peseux won the 100 and 200 breast. Falk won the 500 and 1000 free. Margetts claimed the the 200 fly for the fifth time this season and finsihed first in the 200 IM. Freshmen Alba Fores and Taylor McCoy also added wins. Fores took first in the 200 free while McCoy won the 200 back.
Emily Cook MAKES A STRONG IMPACT
Freshman Emily Cook is having an outstanding rookie campaign, leading the way for newcomers in individual wins with seven this season. Cook currently holds the school and Gibb Pool record in the 100 back with times of 53.70 and 54.51, respectively. Cook's time of 53.70 is 12th fastest overall in the Pac-12, fastest time posted by a freshman in the event this season, an NCAA "B" Standard time, and the 11th fastest time for a freshman in the NCAA. Cook's career-best time in the 200 back (2:00.15) is ninth fastest in program history and 30th fastest in the Pac-12 this season. Cook is also a member of five winning relays for the Cougars.
PAC-12 TOP TIMES
Currently, seven athletes hold Top-30 times in the Pac-12 Conference. Jasmine Margetts posts Top-30 times in five events. Margetts' is 21st (1000 free), 27th (100 back), and 28th (200 back) in the conference. Margetts hit two NCAA "B" Standard times in the 200 fly and 400 IM, clocking in at 1:59.09 and 4:17.21 - 24th and 21st in the Pac-12, respectively. Alba Fores is in the Top-30 in three events: 100 free, 500 free, and 1650 free. Newcomers Mackenzie Duarte and Clothilde Preseux hold Top-30 spots in two events each. Duarte holds 19th and 24th in the 200 breast 100 breast, respectivel, while Peseux holds 23rd and 25th in the same events. Ryan Falk, Sam Howell, Taylor McCoy, and Linnea Lindberg each hold a Top-30 time in an event. Falk is 24th in the 1650 free while Howell is 26th. Pullman, Wash. native McCoy posts the 20th fastest time in the conference and fifth fastest for a freshmen this season in the 200 back. Lindberg is 29th in the 100 breast.
COMING UP
The Cougars will travel to Federal Way, Wash. Feb. 21-24 for the Pac-12 Championships.
