Cougars Remain Undefeated after Defeating Purdue, 7-0

PULLMAN, Wash.—Washington State University remained undefeated on the young season following an 7-0 victory over Purdue Saturday afternoon at the Simmelink Tennis Courts at Hollingberry Fieldhouse. The Cougars opened the match by capturing the two opening doubles matches for the first point. Freshmen
Michaela Bayerlova was able to bring the first singles win of the day after a competitive match against No. 86 Silvia Ambrosio, ending with a score of 6-4, 6-1. In fact, the first four singles matches were all won by the Cougars in straight-sets. Senior
Barbora Michalkova won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 after going into a tiebreaker in the first set, improving her career-best win streak to 12.
Guzal Yusupova clinched the win with 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2, while
Aneta Miksovska saved two match points in her third set tiebreaker before winning 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (13-11) at No. 5. The Cougars improve to 6-0 to start the season with today marking the first win in the series against Purdue.
