MANHATTAN, Kansas—Washington State suffered its first loss of the season after a tough day of competition against Kansas State, losing 4-3 at the Kansas City Racquet Club. The Cougars lost the opening doubles match point against Kansas State to begin the match, the first time this season it had to play from behind. The Cougars were able to capture the first singles victory as Michaela Bayerlova rallied from a first set loss to beat her opponent, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. This was the toughest competition Bayerlova has yet to face, with her first set loss in the collegiate season. Tiffany Mylonas and Guzal Yusupova were both victorious in their single matches bringing the Cougs up 3-1 in the match. After a 6-3, 6-4 loss for Aneta Miksovska at No. 4 singles and a three-set loss for Melisa Ates at No. 6, the deciding point rested on Barbora Michalkova at No. 5. Bara fell in the third set, losing 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 The Cougars fall to 7-1 this season. 

Head Coach Lisa Hart on the match: "Heartbreaking loss for our team today. I think you learn the most about players and teams by how they respond to stress and uncomfortable situations—our players were warriors today and I am proud of them. We have a little rest now and then we will go back to work in preparation for Minnesota later this month."
