Cougs earn No. 16 overall seed, and will face Northern Arizona in opening round.

PULLMAN, Wash. – The first and second rounds of the NCAA Championship Tournament go through Pullman, as the Washington State Volleyball program earned the No. 16 overall seed in the 2018 tournament, and will be one of 16 host sites as well.

The 2018 tournament bid is the third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament for WSU, advancing to the second round in both 2016, and 2017. The Cougars are primed for a tournament run after posting a 21-9 overall record with a fourth place Pac-12 finish. Washington State wrapped up the regular season with a pair of wins, first over Oregon State, and then defeating No. 19 Washington in the second round of the Apple Cup this season.

Washington State will welcome opening round opponent Northern Arizona, along with Tennessee, and Colorado State to Pullman, Wash. for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. The Volunteers will take on CSU first inside Bohler Gym at 4 p.m. PT, followed by the Cougars and NAU at 7 p.m. PT. This will be WSU's first time hosting the tournament since 2001, when the Cougars faced Hawaii inside Bohler Gym.

The Cougars found success during the regular season with the help of the six total seniors who each excelled throughout the year. Taylor Mims, McKenna Woodford, Claire Martin, Ella Lajos, Olivia Coale, and Abby Phillips each played huge roles in leading WSU to crucial victories this season, including nine wins over ranked opponents, 12 wins over the AVCA Top 50 teams, and 17 overall wins over the AVCA Top 100 teams.

The senior class also saw notable milestones hit this season as Claire Martin became the all-time leader in block assists in Washington State Volleyball history. Both Taylor Mims, and McKenna Woodford went on to hit over 1,000 kills in their WSU careers as well this season.
