Cougars Sweep Oregon State Inside Bohler Gym

Mims leads WSU with 12 total kills, and a hitting percentage of .367
WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE
PULLMAN, Wash. – The No. 20 ranked Washington State Cougars (20-9, 11-8 Pac-12) swept through the Oregon State Beavers Wednesday evening inside Bohler Gym in the three set victory.
Set scores from the match were: 25-15, 25-9, and 25-18 in favor of the Cougars.
Washington State found an early rhythm in this one as the Cougars surged ahead of the Beavers of Oregon State (11-20, 1-18 Pac-12) with a 7-1 run with some help from Jocelyn Urias and Ella Lajos blocks, along with one kill from the duo each. WSU was not done there, as another scoring run of 5-1 propelled the home squad to a 25-15 set one victory, totaling 6.0 total blocks as a team as well. Taylor Mims recorded her first kill of the match on set point with a powerful swing to cap off the Cougars impressive opening set.
The Cougars looked dominate in set number two against Oregon State, as Washington State generated scoring runs of 6-0, 5-0, and 4-0 to hold a 16-3 advantage over OSU midway through set two. The offensive attack was firing all around for WSU with kills from McKenna Woodford, Ashley Brown, Mims, and Urias in the contest. Another run of 4-1 capped off the set victory for the Cougars, with all four kills supplied by Charity Bradley.
WSU looked to build the early lead once again against the Beavers, jumping out to a 12-6 advantage after a 3-0 scoring run fueled by a Woodford kill, and a Martin, and Woodford block saw the Cougars out in front. This third and final set began to heat up a bit late, as OSU built a 4-1 scoring run of their own to trail WSU 22-17. However Washington State had no trouble finishing off the Pac-12 opponent in three straight sets with back-to-back kills from both Lajos, and Urias for the 25-18 set victory.

Charity Bradley entered set number two and made an immediate impact totaling four kills on four attacks for a hitting percentage of 1.000 for the red-shirt freshman. Bradley set career-highs in kills, hitting percentage and total points tonight, helping fuel the Cougar offense.

Washington State will next host rival Washington in the second round of the Boeing Apple Cup this season, Saturday, November 24, inside Bohler Gym with first serve slated for 4 p.m. PT. Saturday will also be senior day for the Cougars as six WSU Volleyball student-athletes will be making their final home regular season appearance in Bohler.

NOTES
- Taylor Mims posted a match-high 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .367 to go along with her solid offensive night.
- Jocelyn Urias led the Cougars in blocking with five block assists on the night. Urias also posted six kills and two aces.
- Ashley Brown facilitated the offensive attack with 31 assists, and she added seven digs, and three kills to her stat line.
- Alexis Dirige continued to cover the defensive ground game with a match-high 11 digs, and also chipped in four assists.
