PARK, Colo. – Washington State men's golf is in 10th after nearly two rounds of play Monday, under cold and wet conditions at the Paintbrush Invitational at Colorado Golf Club. Play was suspended in the second round due to darkness.
"We just need to do a better job of eliminating the big numbers so we aren't in a position where we're playing from behind," WSU head coach Dustin White said. "Staying in the present and capitalizing on our good shots will help us get more out of each round. The golf course sets up well for us, we just need to execute better."
The Cougars are currently 26-over par with three players through all 18 holes, one through 17 and one through 16. WSU's individual scores have yet to be made official. Colorado State leads the field at 5-over par (581). The Rams are followed by Loyola Marymount (+6) in second and Colorado in third (+9). Colorado State's scores are official, while Loyola Marymount and Colorado still have players to complete the second round.
Senior AJ Armstrong and junior Daniel Kolar are currently tied for 19th after shooting 4-over on the day. Each shot a round of 1-under par (71), with Armstrong's in the first round and Kolar's in the second round. Senior Grant Cole and junior Nicklaus Chiam are each tied for 45th at +9. Junior Scott Redelsperger is in 69th at +20. Chiam is through 17 holes, while Redelsperger is through 16. Sophomore Ryan Maine, competing as an individual, is 68th through the first two rounds after shooting +19, 163.
