Cougars Finish 12th at Season-Opening John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHU'E, Hawai'i (Feb. 14, 2026) – Redshirt-junior Ben Borgida carded a final round score of 1-under, 69, to lead Washington State during the final day of play at the John Burns Intercollegiate, played Saturday on the 7,156-yard, par 70 Ocean Course at Hokuala.
 
The Cougars finished 12th in the 19-team field, posting a 54-hole total of 19-over par, 859. After finishing the first round in 14th place, WSU rose one spot each day over the final two rounds. Loyola Marymount led wire-to-wire as it posted a five-shot victory over UNLV and six strokes over Texas A&M.
 
Borgida led the Cougars on the final day in Hawaii, as he carded a 1-under, 69. Borgida was solid throughout the round, making the turn at 1-over before carding three birdies against one bogey on his final nine holes as he was WSU's only player under par on the day. Borgida finished his 54-hole event at 5-over, 215, tied for 38th overall.
 
Freshman Dylan Boenning posted a 1-over, 71, Saturday, to give him a three-round total of 4-over, 214, tied for 30th overall. Starting on the backside, Boenning made the turn at even-par and got it to 2-under following back-to-back birdies with five holes to play. Three-straight bogeys and two pars ended his event.
 
Renner never got it going on Saturday as he finished with a 2-over, 72, a round that featured just one birdie against three bogeys. He did lead WSU throughout the 54-hole event, finishing with a 2-over, 212, tied for 21st overall.
 
Burcham could not capitalize on the momentum he generated with a 1-under, 69, on Friday, shooting a 6-over, 76, Saturday. He managed just two birdies against six bogeys and a double as he concluded the tournament at 11-over, 221, tied for 73rd overall.
 
Freshman Christian Flick matched Burcham with a 6-over, 76, concluding his tournament at 13-over, 223, tied for 84th. Sophomore Garrett Harrison posted an 8-over, 78, giving him a 54-hole score of 19-over, 229, tied for 103rd.
 
The Cougars have no time to rest as they travel directly to La Quinta, Calif. for The Prestige, which begins Monda, Feb. 16.
