WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The No. 22 ranked Washington State Cougars (12-3, 3-2 Pac-12) continued their winning ways after defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils on the road in straight sets, 3-0.
Set scores for the match were: 25-17, 25-21, and 25-17, in favor of Washington State.
WSU and the Sun Devils of Arizona State were locked in an intense battle early in the opening set of play, as five total ties occurred to begin this match. The Cougars were able to break free and hold down a steady lead after kills from
Taylor Mims,
Ella Lajos, and
McKenna Woodford began to kick-start this offensive attack. Washington State continued to remain a step ahead of ASU late in the set, and finished off the victory at 25-17 with four straight points with help from Lajos, and Mims.
Arizona State came out swinging in set number two, starting off the second round of play with a 7-0 run against the Cougars. WSU fought right back however with a 3-0 run, and an additional 4-0 run that saw the visiting Cougars down just one point, with some big time blocks surging them back into the set. Woodford, Mims, and
Jocelyn Urias continued to aid in the offensive attack that saw WSU take a 20-17 lead late in the set with a 6-0 scoring run. Washington State finished the job in the second set, downing Arizona State 25-21, to take the 2-0 match lead.
The third and final set of this contest once again featured an early WSU run of 4-0 as multiple Sun Devil errors, and a big block from
Claire Martin, and Urias powered the Cougars into the driver's seat. Washington State kept the pressure on Arizona State, and added a 6-0 run late in the set, featuring kills from Woodford, Lajos, and a service ace from Mims, as the Cougs swept through the Sun Devils at 25-17.

The Cougars finished the match with a hitting percentage of .278, and two of the three sets tonight saw WSU hitting .382, and .320 to sweep through the Sun Devils in Tempe.

- Woodford turned in a dominate performance with a match-high 11 kills, and an attack percentage of .346.
- Ashley Brown lead all with 32 assists, four digs, and one service ace.
- Alexis Dirige anchored the defense on the ground wth 13 digs, and also totaled three aces in the contest.
