CHARLESTON, S.C. – Washington State tennis student-athlete Michaela Bayerlova saw her tournament end in the second round of the $25,000 ITF Charleston event Thursday at the LTP Tennis Club.
Bayerlova, unseeded in the event, face the top-seed in Reix Sherazad of France, ranked No. 293 in the world. The Cougar sophomore held early leads of 2-0, 2-1, and 3-2, but could not capitalize as Sherazad ran off six-straight games midway through the first set to lead 6-3. The loss ends Bayerlova's two-week run which saw her reach the finals of the ITF Hilton Head event prior to this week's efforts.
