ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Friday marks the 53rd all-time meeting between Washington State and Oregon State, as WSU holds the 34-19 advantage in the series. The Cougars are looking to extend their winning streak against Oregon State to six. Last season, The Cougars defeated the Beavers 170-87 in Corvallis, Ore. The last time the Beavers traveled to Pullman, the Cougars defeated them in a deciding 154-100.
LAST TIME IN THE POOL
The Cougars dropped a Pac-12 Conference meet to No. 25 Arizona State, 177-83. Junior Jasmine Margetts impressed in the 200 fly, finishing first with a season-best time of 2:01.18, her fourth win in the event this season. Margetts also finished second in the 200 back and fourth in the 200 IM; clocking in at 2:01.45 and 2:07.22, respectively. Freshman Alba Fores placed second in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:51.21 and later added another second-place finish in the 100 free, touching in 52.06.
Emily Cook MAKES A STRONG IMPACT
Freshman Emily Cook is having an outstanding rookie campaign, leading the way for newcomers in individual wins with six this season. Cook currently holds the school record in the 100 back with a time of 53.70. Cook's time is 11th fastest overall in the Pac-12, fastest time posted by a freshman in the event this season, and an NCAA "B" Standard time. Cook's career-best time in the 200 back (2:00.15) is ninth fastest in program history and 28th fastest in the Pac-12 this season. Cook is also a member of four winning relays for the Cougars.
PAC-12 TOP-25 TIMES
Currently, seven athletes hold Top-25 times in the Pac-12 Conference. Jasmine Margetts posts Top-25 times in three events. Margetts' time of 10:06.66 in the 1000 free is 17th in the conference. Margetts hit two NCAA "B" Standard times in the 200 fly and 400 IM, clocking in at 1:59.09 and 4:17.21 - both 21st in the Pac-12. Freshmen Alba Fores and Mackenzie Duarte hold Top-25 spots in two events each. Fores' time of 49.81 in the 100 free is 24th in the Pac-12, sixth fastest freshmen this season, and an NCAA "B" Standard Time. Fores is also 23rd in the conference in the 1650 free with a time of 17:01.99, while Ryan Falk is 24th with a time of 17:02.93 Duarte's times of 2:15.68 (200 breast) and 1:03.19 (100 breast) are 19th and 22nd, respectively, in the Pac-12. Pullman, Wash. native Taylor McCoy posts the 20th fastest time in the conference and fifth fastest for a freshmen this season in the 200 back with a time of 1:57.97, an NCAA "B" Standard time. Clothilde Peseux also posted a Pac-12 Top-25 time in her respective event, currently sitting 23rd in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.24.
COMING UP
The Cougars will travel to Utah Feb. 10 for their final conference meet of the season before Pac-12 Championships. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
