Volleyball Heads to Los Angeles for Ranked Foes

COUGARS VOLLEYBALL HEADS TO LOS ANGELES FOR RANKED FOES
The Washington State University volleyball team takes its 12-2 overall record and 1-1 Pac-12 record (ranked 33rd in the Sept. 25 AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll) to Los Angeles for a pair of afternoon matches...WSU takes on No. 20 USC (10-3, 2-0) Sat., Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. in the Galen Center...24 hours later, WSU plays No. 13 UCLA (8-3, 1-1 pending 9/29 vs. No. 6 Washington) Sun., Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion...WSU defeated both UCLA and USC in 2016...links to Radio, Stats and Live Video are at the volleyball schedule page at wsucougars.com.

Jen Stinson Greeny is in her seventh season as WSU's head coach (103-106 at WSU, 7 years; 215-130 in career, 11 years)...2016 Pac-12 Coach of the Year...Greeny bio on page 5...staff includes associate head coach Burdette Greeny (seventh year) and assistant coach Shannon Hunt (fifth year)...all coaches are former WSU student-athletes...technical operations Grant Schoenlein (first year), volunteer coach James Dorr (second year) and student coach Kyra Holt...Kaysie Shebenick is coordinator of operations (first year).

In the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Sept. 25 Poll the Cougars are 33rd...in other national rankings for Sept. 25 include: VolleyMob.com - 26th; PrepVolleyball.com - 28th; Pablo Rankings - 34th; Rich Kern Poll - 33rd; RKPI - 37th; and Massey Ratings - 24th...WSU will play eight teams this season that are ranked or have received votes in the AVCA Coaches Preseason Top 25 Poll...complete poll on page 4.

COUGARS DOMINATING AT MIDDLE BLOCKER
A pair of WSU middle blockers are dominating the Pac-12 with a combination of blocking and high percentage hitting...redshirt sophomore Jocelyn Urias and junior Ella Lajos are newcomers to the MB starting roles but have put up outstanding numbers...to date, Urias has 77 kills with 13 errors in 153 attacks for a .418 hitting percentage, second in Pac-12, and also has a 1.48 blocks per set average, fifth-best in Pac-12, 20th in NCAA...Lajos has 87 kills with 22 errors in 187 attacks for a .348 hpct, 9th-best in Pac-12 and also contributes 1.32 blocks per set which is eighth-best in Pac-12...in WSU's 3-1 win at Arizona, Urias went 10k-0e-18a (.556) with four blocks and Lajos was 7k-0e-13a (.538) with two blocks...WSU is the ONLY SCHOOL with two players in both the Pac-12 Hitting Percentage and Blocks Top 10 lists this week.
