Cougars to Compete at Southwestern Invitational

The men's golf team travels to Thousand Oaks, Calif. for its next tournament.
THIS WEEK: The Washington State men's golf team travels to Thousand Oaks, Calif. to compete at the Southwestern Invitational hosted by Pepperdine University, Feb. 27-28.
THE TOURNAMENT: The two-day tournament will take place at the North Ranch Country Club, a par-72, 6,992-yard track…the first two rounds will be played Monday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. PT…The final round will begin Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
THE FIELD: Joining Washington State and host-school Pepperdine in the 14-team field will be Augusta, College of Charleston, Fresno State, Idaho, Lipscomb, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oregon State, San Diego State, SMU, UC Davis, and USC…USC (4th) and San Diego State (18th) are currently ranked in the top-25.
REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for WSU will be senior Nick Mandell, junior Brian Mogg, sophomore AJ Armstrong, and juniors Zach Anderson and Derek Bayley.
LAST TIME ON THE GREEN: WSU finished 15th with a three-round score of 896 (+32)…Bayley shot 5-over through three rounds and tied for 56th…freshman Daniel Kolar finished with a score of 222 (+6) and tied for 60th place…Armstrong tied for 78th (+10, 226) and Mandell tied for 88th place (+13, 229).
COACHING STAFF: The team is led by first-year head coach Dustin White, who was an assistant coach at WSU before accepting the head coach position…White golfed for the Cougars from 1999-2003…assistant coach Chris Gilbert joined the WSU coaching staff this season…Gilbert graduated from Kansas in 2013 and turned pro the same year before accepting the assistant coach position.
