LIHUE, Hawaii – The Washington State University men's golf team finished 15th at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Friday, with a three-round score of 896 (+32).
WSU shot 13-over in the third round to finish behind tournament-champion No. 9 Virginia, which led each round to card a total score of 835 (-29). No. 25 Texas A&M (-25, 839) and No. 20 UNLV (-24, 840) finished in second and third, respectively.
Junior Derek Bayley carded three birdies in the final round and tied for 56th place. With a total score of 221 (+5), Bayley finished 20 strokes back of winner Chandler Phillips of Texas A&M, who shot 15-under through three rounds (201).
Freshman Daniel Kolar finished with a score of 222 (+6) and tied for 60th with two other golfers. After shooting 2-over par in the final round, sophomore AJ Armstrong tied for 78th (+10, 226).
Senior Nick Mandell tied for 88th place (+13, 229), while freshman Nicklaus Chiam finished 98th (+18, 234).
Next up, the Cougars will travel to Thousand Oaks, Calif., Feb. 27-28, to compete at the Southwestern Invitational.
