Taylor Mims Named to All-Pac-12 Volleyball First Team

SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington State junior Taylor Mims was named to the 2017 All-Pac-12 Volleyball First Team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
Mims, a 6-3 outside hitter from Billings, Mont., leads the NCAA-bound Cougars and is fifth-best in the Pac-12 in kills with a 4.10 per set average and in points with a 4.65 per set average. In national standings, Mims is 16th in total attacks with 1,408, 18th in points with 558.5., 19th in total kills with 488, 24th in attacks per set at 11.83, 28th in points per set with 4.69 pps, and 35th in kills per set at 4.10 kps. Mims was named to the Cougar Challenge All-Tournament team and was named the MVP of the Missouri State Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational.
In WSU single season rankings this year, Mims is second in attack attempts at 1,408, third in points with 558.5 and fourth in kills with 488. In WSU career all-time standings, Mims totals are: 862 kills (23rd), 2,285 attacks (22nd), 48 solo blocks (12th), 322 block assists (10th), 370 total blocks (10th), 1.10 bps (14th), and 1,121 points (6th).
Pac-12 Player of the Year went to Stanford's Kathryn Plummer and Oregon State's Kylee McLaughlin was named Freshman of the Year. Libero of the Year is Stanford's Morgan Hentz and Setter of the Year honors is Stanford's Jenna Gray. Oregon State's Mark Barnard won Coach of the Year. The Pac-12 volleyball head coaches nominate players from their own teams and then vote on the all-conference teams, without being able to vote for their own players. There were 18 players selected to the All-Pac-12 First Team and another 18 players named to the honorable mention team. Seven players were named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman First team.
