Cougars Wrap Up California Trip With Two Wins Against No.21 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – Washington State swimming finished their California trip Saturday with a quad meet against No. 21 UCLA, 152-104. The Cougars were able to finish the meet with a first place finish in the 400 Free Relay and a first place finish from senior Hannah Bruggman.
Bruggman had a great performance for the Cougars. She clocked in at 23.64 in the 50 free to win the event. Bruggman also took second place in both the 100 free and 200 Medley Relay. Alongside teammates Emily Cook, Linnea Lindberg, and Anna Brolin, the team was able to clock in at 1:42.74, less than a half of a second behind first place from UCLA. Bruggman's time of 50.90 in the 100 free is a season best. Finishing just behind her in the event was teammate Alba Fores who clocked in at 51.81.
Freshman Emily Cook continued to have a strong performance for the Cougars. Cook took home an individual second and third place finish in her events. With a time of 55.41, Cook placed second in the 100 back. Her third place finish came in the 200 back, where she clocked in at 2:01.48. Not far behind her was Pullman, Wash. Native, Taylor McCoy. McCoy finished in fifth place with a time of 2:02.47.
The Cougars will have some time off from competition before diving back into the pool Nov. 17-19 to compete in the annual Ohio State Invite.
