PULLMAN, Wash. - Registration for all three of Washington State University men's basketball 2016 summer camps, featuring instruction from third-year head coach Ernie Kent, his staff and basketball student-athletes, are currently available online at www.wsucougars.com.
The summer will kick off with Day Camp, June 14-17 and is open to boys and girls entering second through eighth grade, costing $150 per camper. The camp will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a lunch break from noon-1 p.m. Campers will need to bring their own lunch or money to purchase pizza, snacks and/or drinks at the camp. No housing will be provided for the Day Camp. The campers will be given daily instruction by WSU student-athletes and coaching staff, including Coach Kent, learning basic offensive and defensive fundamentals, while participating in five-on-five games daily. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt and a basketball.
The WSU Elite Camp will take place June 23-24 and is open to ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th graders in high school (classes as of the fall of 2016). The camp costs $135 per camper, as meals and housing are included. It starts Thursday, June 23 at 2 p.m. and ends Friday, June 24 at 3 p.m. The camp is designed for young men who are serious about improving their skills and includes instructional sessions by the WSU coaching staff, including Coach Kent. The camp, which features a hands on approach from Coach Kent and his staff, includes staff involvement in each drill, teaching of up-tempo style skills, personal feedback and skill development, individual instruction to each camper, two full days of skill development stressing the importance of fundamentals and five-on-five games played at the end of each day.
Team Camp will take place June 27-30, with check-in between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 27. The camp costs $275 per player and is open to teams with participants entering grades ninth-12th. Teams are encouraged to have at least eight players. Housing and meals are included in the cost. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of eight officiated games, and will participate in developmental coaching clinics for coaches and players daily, along with situational games and contests. The camp will conclude with a tournament on the final day.
Camp Registration is available online only and is required two weeks prior to the start of camp, along with a deposit for Day Camp and Elite Camp and the full amount for Team Camp.
