Cougars Finish Fourth at Redhawk Invitational

TACOMA, Wash. – The Washington State men's golf team finished fourth at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational presented by OGIO, Tuesday, at Chambers Bay Golf Course.

After carding a third-round 298 (+18), its lowest round of the tournament, WSU (+74, 922) finished 25 strokes back of tournament-champion Washington (+49, 897). TCU (+60, 908) and Oregon State (+68, 916) finished second and third, respectively.

Freshman Aaron Whalen was one of three Cougars to finish in the top 25. Whalen shot 2-over par (72) in the final round to tie for 11th (+16, 228), eight strokes back of tournament-champion Jonathan Sanders of Washington (+8, 220).

In his fourth top-25 performance of the season, freshman AJ Armstrong tied for 13th at 229 (+17). Senior Evan Omelia tied for 24th with a three-round total of 232 (+20).

Sophomore Derek Bayley tied for 35th (+23, 235). Sophomore Zach Anderson, competing as an individual, tied for 46th (+26, 238). Senior Bhurinat Songpaiboon tied for 70th (+32, 244).

Next up, the men's golf team will head to Provo, Utah, compete at the PING Cougar Classic, April 11-12, hosted by Brigham Young University.
