TEMPE, Ariz. – The Washington State women's golf team tied for eighth with No. 4 Northwestern and the 2015 NCAA runner-up, No. 54 Baylor at the PING/ASU Invitational, Sunday, at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

WSU (+30, 894) moved four spots up the leaderboard after shooting 7-over par (295), the team's lowest score of the tournament, in the third round. Tournament-champion, No. 3 UCLA ended play with a three-round total of 852 (-12). No. 11 Arizona State (-6, 858) and No. 1 Alabama (-5, 859) finished second and third, respectively.

"I am incredibly proud of how the team has competed this week," WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. "To compete with and beat some of the top teams in the country is a big stepping stone for the program and something that we look to build off of going into the postseason."

In a field that contained nine top-35 teams, No. 10 Arizona (+11, 875), No. 13 Washington (+16, 880), No. 17 UNLV (+19, 883) and No. 29 Texas (+27, 891) finished ahead of the Cougars. WSU finished ahead of No. 31 Colorado (+37, 901), which placed 12th. 

Sophomore Alivia Brown tied for 29th after shooting a third-round 71 (-1). With a three-round total of 221 (+6), Brown finished 18 strokes back of tournament-champion Bronte Law of UCLA (-12, 204).

Senior Monica Huang tied for 31st (+9, 225), one stroke in front of junior teammate Cherokee Kim, who tied for 41st at 226 (+10).

Senior Nani Yanagi finished 57th (+13, 229), while sophomore Bree Wanderscheid tied for 60th (+15, 231). Freshman Madison Odiorne tied for 73rd (+22, 238).

Women's golf will conclude the 2015-16 season April 18-20, at the Pac-12 Championships in Pleasanton, Calif., at Ruby Hills Golf Course.
