Men?s Golf Concludes Play at Bandon Dunes

BANDON, Ore. – The Washington State men's golf team finished ninth after the final round of the Bandon Dunes Championship, Tuesday, at Bandon Trails Golf Course.

WSU shot 17-over par (301) in the final round to bring its three-round total to 904 (+52), finishing 11 strokes ahead of in-state rival Gonzaga (+63, 915). Tournament-champion No. 11 Clemson, which led each of the three rounds, ended play at 2-over (854). No. 22 Washington finished 17 strokes back of Clemson to claim second place (+19, 871), as Alabama-Birmingham rounded out the top three (+27, 879).

In his sixth top-25 performance of his sophomore season, Derek Bayley tied for 25th after shooting 4-over par (75) in the final round. With a three-round total of 224 (+11), Bayley finished 16 strokes back of tournament-champion Blair Bursey of Utah Valley (-5, 208).

Senior Evan Omelia moved 22 spots up the leaderboard after shooting even par in the third and final round. Omelia tied for 28th at 12-over (225), one stroke behind Bayley. Junior Nick Mandell tied for 37th (+15, 228).

Freshmen AJ Armstrong and Aaron Whalen tied for 46th (+17, 230) and for 61st (+23, 236), respectively. Sophomore Zach Anderson tied for 63rd (+25, 238).

The Cougars will return to the green March 21-22, at Canby, Ore., for the Airstream Adventures Northwest Classic.
