Cougars Wrap Up Second Round

WSU is in 12th place after the second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational.

MONTEREY, Calif.—The Washington State men's golf team is in 12th place (+36, 604) after the second round of play at the Saint Mary's Invitational, Tuesday, at Poppy Hills Golf Course.

WSU shot 13-over par in the second round and is 25 strokes back of leader No. 23 San Diego State (+11, 579). Host-school Saint Mary's is in second (+15, 583) and Fresno State rounds out the top-three at 588 (+20).

Two Cougars are in the top-25, including sophomore AJ Armstrong and junior Zach Anderson, who are both tied for 21st (+7, 149). Armstrong recorded an eagle on the fifth hole, and Anderson carded four birdies in the second round.

Sophomore Grant Cole is tied for 45th after shooting 8-over on the day to bring his two-round score to 152 (+10).  Freshman Nicklaus Chiam, who is competing as an individual, trails Cole by one stroke and is tied for 48th place (+11, 153).

Senior Nick Mandell carded three birdies in the second round and is tied for 68th (+15, 157). Freshman Daniel Kolar is tied for 71st after shooting 5-over in the second round (158).
