CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS GO BACK TO SEATTLE FOR UW INVITE

The Washington State men's and women's cross country teams travel back to Seattle for the Washington Invitational, Friday, Oct. 2, at the Jefferson Park Golf Course...women's 6,000m race begins at 3:15 p.m. and men's 8,000m race follows at 4 p.m...course consists of multiple 2k loops on flat fairways crossing some cart paths...site of 2015 NCAA Regional Championships and was same site for 2010 Pac-10 Championships, USATF Club Nationals and 2013 NCAA West Regionals...other teams include Air Force, BYU, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland, Seattle U., Stanford, UCLA, and UW...results at wsucougars.com, when available postrace.

WAYNE PHIPPS, DIR. OF WSU CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK & FIELD

Wayne Phipps (University of British Columbia '91) become the 15th coach to take the reins of the Washington State men's program and the second coach for the combined men's and women's program at WSU on July 1, 2014...Phipps had been the University of Idaho's Director and Track & Field/Cross Country from 2010 through 2014, and was a coach with the Vandals program for a total of 19 years...he served as co-head coach from 2000-09, after serving as an assistant coach from 1995-99... while at Idaho, Phipps was honored 14 times as a conference coach of the year and led the Vandals to a record 16 total conference titles.

ALLIX POTRATZ-LEE, ASSISTANT COACH

Allix Potratz-Lee joined the WSU track and field coaching staff in July 2014 after an outstanding career as a student-athlete and coach at the University of Idaho... member of the Idaho cross country/track and field coaching staff starting in 2010 as an assistant to Wayne Phipps, working primarily with the distance corps...Vandals' women's cross country team won WAC team titles in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.. she was a five-time WAC champion, a 10-time first-team all-WAC honoree and a two-time ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-American...she helped Idaho cross country capture the 2005 and 2007 XC team titles,and claimed the 2008 individual WAC cross country crown.

COUGAR HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2015 SUNDODGER INVITATIONAL

Sophomore Michael Williams (Richland, Wash.) led the WSU men to the team title with his runner-up finish Sept. 19 at the Sundodger Invitational at Seattle's Lincoln Park...this was the second consecutive year WSU upset nationally-ranked Huskies at this meet...men's team scores: WSU 24, No. 21 Washington 34, Seattle U 113, Tulane 128, and Portland St. 151...Williams ran the 8k in a time of 24:08.59 seconds, behind Washington's Izaic Yorks winning time of 24:05.39...WSU scores: John Whelan (4th - 24:14.25), Nathan Wadhwani (5th - 24:21.29), Sam Levora (7th - 24:26.58) and Chandler Teigen (8th - 24:28.69)....for the WSU women, CharLee Linton was the top 6k finisher (8th - 20:55.61)...WSU women scorers: Devon Bortfeld (15th - 21:19.83), Morgan Willson (20th - 21:33.73), and Emily Dwyer (33rd - 22:11.85)... women's team scores were: No. 14 Washington 17, Washington State 88, Nevada 93, Portland State 130, Oregon State 141, Seattle U 156, Fresno State 163, Tulane 171, and Hawai'i 195.

Jake Finney (Fr., Post Falls, Idaho) - Finished 17th overall at Clash of Inland NW 6k in time of 18:33.1...eighth Cougar and 24th overall finisher at Sundodger 8k in time of 25:26.73.

Jackson Haselnus (Jr.-Rs, Gresham, Ore.) - Taking a redshirt season...ran unattached at Clash of Inland NW finishing 48th in 6k with time of 19:43.0.

Conner Johnsen (Jr.-Rs, Bellingham, Wash.) - Taking a redshirt season...ran unattached at the Clash of Inland NW and finished 6k in 19:26.8 for 41st.

Sam Levora (So., Sandpoint, Idaho) - Fifth Cougar and 15th overall finisher at Clash of Inland NW 6k in time of 18:29.6...fourth on team and seventh overall at Sundodger 8k in time of 24:26.58.

Natalie Ackerley (Fr., Bainbridge, Wash.) - Clash of Inland NW meet had 50th finish, ran 4k in time of 15:49.6...at Sundodger 6k finished 86th in time of 25:14.33.

Anisa Allaet (Fr., Spokane, Wash.) - Finished 24th overall at Clash of Inland NW 4k in time of 14:57.8...at Sundodger 6k finished sixth on team and 52nd overall in time of 22:45.02.

Betsy Arlt (Fr., Wenatchee, Wash.) - Finished 45th at the Clash of Inland NW 4k in time of 15:34.7...at Sundodger 6k finshed 72nd overall in time of 23:40.51.

Amanda Henderson (Sr., Pullman, Wash.) - Finished 55th at Clash of the Inland NW 4k in time of 16:04.9...at Sundodger 6k fiinished 65th overall in time of 23:13.87.

Grace Victor (Fr., Wakerley, Australia) - Running unattached, finished 44 at the Clash of Inland NW with 4k time of 15:31.0.

WSU HOSTS 2015 PAC-12 CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Washington State is the host school for the 2015 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships, presented by Duluth Trading Company. Mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 30, for the Championships races to be held at the Colfax Golf Club in Colfax, Wash. The day's schedule of events is below.

The Pac-12 Networks will be broadcasting the championships on a delayed basis as two half-hour shows: one highlighting the men's race and the other highlighting the women's race.
