ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Washington State University women's golf team is tied for 12th after shooting 16-over par (303, 297) through the first two rounds of play at the 2015 Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, Monday, at The Championship Golf Course.
The Cougars carded 11 and 10 birdies through the first and second rounds, respectively. With a score of 600, WSU is tied with UC Davis, 34 strokes back from leader Stanford (-18, 566).
Sophomore Alivia Brown leads the Cougars, tied for 31st. Brown, a native of Gig Harbor, Wash., birdied four holes in total, finishing the first round 2-over (75) and closing out the day even with par (73) in the second round, for a total score of 148.
After shooting 6-over (79) in the first round and 1-under (72) in the second round, junior Cherokee Kim is tied for 38th. Sophomore Bree Wanderscheid shot 152 (+1, +5) over the course of the day. Wanderscheid is tied for 51st place.
Both seniors Nani Yanagi and Rachel Lewis shot 153 throughout two rounds, and are tied for 57th place. Yanagi shot 76 (+3) in the first round and 77 (+4) in the second, while Lewis shot 78 (+5) and 75 (+2).
The remaining senior on the team, Monica Huang, is competing as an individual and is also tied for 57th place after shooting 7-over in the first round and even with par (73) in the second round.
