PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Dexter Kernich-Drew, making his first start since Nov. 27, scored a career-high 27 points to lead Washington State past Arizona State, 74-71, Friday night.
DaVonte Lacy scored 17 points for the Cougars (11-13, 5-7 Pac-12), who moved past the Sun Devils (12-12, 4-7) into eighth place.
Gerry Blakes paced Arizona State with a season-high 24 points, including the Sun Devils' final 16 points. Tra Holder added 14 and Eric Jacobsen had 12.
Kernich-Drew was coming off a season-high 18-point game Sunday at Oregon. The senior wing came into Friday's game averaging 4.4 points per game.
The Sun Devils led 34-29 at the half after dominating inside. In the opening half, Arizona State outscored WSU 26-12 in the paint and had a 12-0 advantage in second-chance points. The Sun Devils outrebounded WSU 25-10 in the half, including 10-1 in offensive rebounds.
