Holt and Woodford Earn Pac-12 Honors

SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington State's Kyra Holt was selected to the All-Pac-12 volleyball team and McKenna Woodford was voted onto the Pac-12 All-Freshman team, Conference Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.

“We are very proud of both Kyra and McKenna for their accomplishments on the court,” Cougar Head Coach Jen Greeny said. “They both carried a heavy load for our team this year and both worked extremely hard all season.”

Holt, a 6-1 junior outside hitter from Hercules, Calif., led the Cougars in several categories this season. Her 3.91 kills per set was sixth-best in Pac-12 and 61st-best nationally. Holt's 0.32 service aces per set was fourth-best in conference, and her 4.15 points per set average was seventh-best in Pac-12 and 51st-best nationally. She was a team tri-captain in 2015 and earned tournament MVP honors at the Cougar Challenge, the Idaho Volleyball Classic, and was named to the Radford Highlander Invitational all-tournament team. In career statistics, she has accumulated 1,293 kills which is sixth-best in WSU all-time standings, 91 aces which is eighth-best all-time and 1,486.5 points which is second-best in all-time. Holt was named to the 2013 All-Pac-12 honorable mention team and to the All-Freshman First team. That same year she was selected the AVCA Pacific North Region Freshman of the Year.

Woodford is a 6-4 freshman outside hitter from Chandler, Ariz., who was named the MVP of the Texas Tech Lone Star Showdown and to the all-tournament team at the Radford Highlander Invitational. She was a two-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week selection this season (Sept. 14-20, Nov. 9-15). Woodford's 3.16 kills per set average was second-best on the team as was her 3.74 points per set average. She also averaged 0.23 aces per set which was third-best on team and ninth-best in the Pac-12.

Pac-12 Player of the Year went to USC's Samantha Bricio, with Stanford's Hayley Hodson named Freshman of the Year and teammate Madi Bugg voted Setter of the Year. UCLA's Taylor Formico was honored as Libero of the Year. USC's Mick Haley was tabbed Coach of the Year. The Pac-12 volleyball head coaches nominate players from their own teams and then vote on the all-conference teams, without being able to vote for their own players. There were 18 players selected to the All-Pac-12 First Team and another 18 players named to the honorable mention team. Seven players were named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman First team and five were named to the honorable mention.

This is the 15th time a Cougar has been named to the All-Pac-12 First Team for volleyball, and the 12th time a WSU freshman has been selected to the All-Freshman first team.
