Swimming Claims 10 Races, Sweeps San Diego Double-Meet

Freshman Jasmine Margetts had a notable meet; she picked up two wins and set an Aztec Aquaplex record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.29, the fourth best time in WSU history. Margetts' second win came in the 100 back when she touched the wall first at 56.46, a season best.
The Cougars began the meet with a win the 200 medley relay. The team of Margetts, Frederikke Hall, Anna Brolin, and Hannah Bruggman finished with a time of 1:44.37.
Junior Kendra Griffin claimed two wins as well. In the 1000 free, she finished at 10:16.07, the tenth-best time in WSU history. In the 500 free, Griffin touched the wall first at 5:01.49.
Senior Presley Wetterstrom claimed the breaststroke events, adding two more wins for a team-high of six victories this season. In the 100, she finished first with a time of 1:04.24, a season-best. In the 200, she picked up a win with a time of 2:15.79, marking the seventh-fastest time in WSU history.
Junior Addisynn Bursch also picked up two wins for the Cougars. In the 200 freestyle, Bursch set a season best time of 56.46, with her win. She also claimed the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.34, breaking into the WSU Top-10 list at seventh.
Junior Elise Locke picked up another win for the Cougars in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.15, a season-best for her and the fifth-fastest time in WSU history.
WSU also tallied eight second-place finishes. Senior Loree Olson finished second twice, once in the 100 backstroke at 56.64, a season best. Olson picked up her second win in the 200 back with a time of 2:00.47, the ninth-fastest time in WSU history. Sophomore Hannah Bruggman picked up four points for the Cougars in the 50 freestyle when she placed second with a time of 23.72. Hall finished second in the 200 breaststroke at 2:18.29.
Sophomore Rachel Thompson touched the wall second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.66. Bursch picked up a second place finish in the 100 freestyle at 51.31, finishing first for WSU. Junior Elise Locke also finished first for WSU and second overall in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.75.
Margetts also claimed a second place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.35, just .01 seconds behind teammate Bursch. Margetts' time placed her eighth on the WSU Top-10 list.
The Cougars return to the pool when they travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio State University Invitational on Friday, Nov. 20 for a three-day meet, finishing up on Sunday, Nov. 22.
