HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – The Washington State University women's golf team finished third and junior Cherokee Kim tied for fifth after three days and three rounds of the Ron Moore Invitational, Sunday, at Highlands Ranch Golf Course.
"We got off to a rough start and fought hard to finish out a solid tournament," WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura said. "We learned a lot and look forward to getting back out on the road this weekend."
The Cougars (+6, 870) finished eight strokes behind host-school Denver (-2, 862) in first and three strokes behind San Francisco (+3, 867) in second. Colorado State and Long Beach State rounded out the top five. WSU shot a third round score of 297, carding eleven birdies throughout the day.
Kim finished one-under par (215), seven strokes behind tournament champion Kassidy Teare of Long Beach State (-8, 208). She shot three-over in the third round.
Sophomore Alivia Brown shot even par through three rounds (216) to tie for 12th. Finishing one stroke behind Brown was fellow sophomore Bree Wanderscheid, who finished 14th at one-over par (217).
Seniors Nani Yanagi and Monica Huang tied for 32nd and 53rd, respectively. Yanagi ended the day six-over par for a total score of 223 (+7). Huang shot a third-round 77 (+5) to conclude tournament play at 227 (+11).
The Cougars travel to Stanford, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational, Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 18-20.
