BREMERTON, Wash. – Led by redshirt-seniors Sang Lee and Charlie Mroz, the Washington State University men's golf team finished in 10th place at the Husky Invitational on the Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course. Lee finished the tournament tied for sixth place, carding a three-round 216 (E). The finish is Lee's seventh top-10 finish of his career. Mroz finished 5-over par (221) and tied for 17th. A strong second round, in which Mroz finished even with par (72), gave him the third top-25 finish of his career.

“Sang and Charlie each had solid tournaments,” Cougar Head Coach Garrett Clegg said. “Unfortunately, it was a day that, as a team, we didn't play well. We didn't get started in the right direction and just kept heading that way. We'll be okay. We've got a tournament on Monday and we'll bounce back.”

Freshman Derek Bayley provided counting scores for the Cougars in each of the first two rounds. Bayley finished 15-over par (231) and tied for 55th. Junior Evan Omelia finished one stroke back from Bayley, carding a 232 (+16) and tied for 60th. An eagle on the 18th hole highlighted Omelia's third round. Omelia was one of three players to card an eagle on the par-4, 325-yard hole.

In a separate individual tournament on Gold Mountain's par-71 Cascade Course, freshman Zach Anderson tied for eighth, carding four birdies in the final round to finish 1-under par (70).

The Cougars return home next week to host the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate Sept. 29-30 at WSU's Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
