Cougars Finish 15th at PING/ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Washington State women's golf team had a strong third and final round of play at the PING/ASU Invitational. The Cougars ended the tournament in 15th place (+53, 917) of the competitive field. South Carolina was victorious (-11, 853) followed by host Arizona State (-5, 859), rival Washington (-5, 859), and Duke (-5, 859) in a three way tie for second.

Kristen Rue had the best performance for the Cougars on the last day of the tournament scoring a 73 (+1). Rue moved up another 12 spots on the leaderboard after the final round to land her T-40 (+7, 223).

Sophomore, Monica Huang, was the next highest finisher for the Cougars at T-65 (+14, 230). Huang remained consistant and scored the same score as round two (+5, 77) and carded three birdies on the day.  

Nani Yanagi, had a strong final round for Washington State carding only four ever par. Yanagi finished T-69 (+18, 234) on the leaderboard and also carded three birdies on the day.

Up next for the Cougars is the Silverado Showdown hosted by Oregon and Colorado in Napa, Calif. Apr. 14th-15th, 2014.
