Cougars Finish in Top-10 at Westbrook Invitational

PEORIA, Ariz. – After a strong third and final round of play, the Washington State women's golf team finished tied-ninth (+12, 876) at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Ohio State came out on top (-26, 838) followed by Oregon in second (-16, 848), and host Wisconsin in third (-5, 859).

Senior, Mallory Kent, made the biggest jump on the leaderboard moving up ten spots after scoring a 71 in the final round. After carding two birdies in the front nine, Kent finished tied-14th (E, 216).

Junior, Kristen Rue, was the next highest finisher for the Cougars after a solid third round score of 72. Rue ended the tournament tied-18th (+1, 217) moving up six spots from the first day of the tournament.

Sophomore, Monica Huang, had a strong finish in her first tournament as a Cougar. Huang carded a 73 in the third round and finished tied-39 (+5, 221).  

"The team played solid this week," said WSU Head Coach Kelli Kamimura. "We showed a lot of growth and I love that we improved our score every round."

The Bruin/Wave Invitational is up next for the Cougars on Mar. 3-4, 2014 in Tarzana, Calif.
