Box Score STANFORD, Calif. – Chioma Ubogagu scored in the 84th minute and No. 3 Stanford knocked Washington State from the ranks of unbeaten with a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon in Pac-12 Conference women's soccer.
The Cardinal (10-0-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) and Cougars (7-1-2, 2-1-0 Pac-12) entered the match ranked 1-2 nationally in goals against average and both teams struggled to find quality scoring chances throughout the match.
“I am really proud of the way we performed on the road trip,” Cougar Head Coach Steve Nugent said. “That said, we came here for six points this weekend and we are a bit disappointed. We will get back to practice, Tuesday and get ready for Arizona.”
With the loss by Washington State, only Stanford, UCLA and DePaul remain undefeated in NCAA Division I.
The Cougars return home for their first match in Pullman since Aug. 31 when they host Arizona, Friday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. on the Pa-12 Networks.
