EUGENE, Ore. - Washington State University senior Shawna Fermin ended her Cougar collegiate career with a 13th-place finish in the women's 400m dash semifinals Wednesday at the NCAA DI Outdoor Championships in Eugene.

Fermin, from Victorville, Calif., ran a season-best time of 52. 76 seconds, sixth-fastest in the third heat and 13th-fastest of the 24 women racing in the semifinals. Eight women advanced to the Friday evening final.

Fermin's time Wednesday evening was just off her lifetime-best time of 52.66 seconds run in 2012 at the Pac-12 Championships in Eugene. Her PR time if the second-best in WSU women's history.

For her finish at the NCAA Championships, Fermin is expected to be named to the All-America second team for the 400m dash early next week when the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announces its awards.

Fermin plans to use her dual citizenship and race at the Trinidad and Tobago national championships later this month with a goal of qualifying for the 2013 IAAF World Championships, Aug. 10-18 in Moscow, Russia.
