BAUTRE'S WSU CAREER
JUNIOR (2002): Missed Cougars European tour as she was playing in European Beach Championships in Croatia...duo finished eighth because Bautre had to leave in the middle of tournament to return to school in Pullman...played in 36 games this season...had surgery Nov. 5, 2002, on her right knee...expected recovery time was four to seven months which precluded the rest of the season and some of spring 2003 practice sessions...actual recovery time much quicker and allowed for spring conditioning and practice.
SOPHOMORE (2001): No sophomore slump season...at Oregon State had career-high 23 digs and season-high 16 kills...averaged 2.43 kills per game (fifth on team) and fourth in digs at 2.73 per game...in Pac-10 matches only stats, averaging 2.94 digs per game...saw limited play at UCLA and USC due to sinus infection...last six matches came off the bench...at UNLV tourney had 11 kills in 20 attacks with no errors in three games (.550 hitting percentage)...named to 2001 Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention team...was outstanding offensively in spring 2002 tournament play...WSU President's Honor Roll...played in the European Beach Volleyball Championships at Croatia during summer.
FRESHMAN (2000): Arrived on campus for August practice after several e-mails and just two phone calls...first time in United States...moved into starting spot by the end of September, but finished season sharing position with Adrian Hankoff...best efforts include versus Washington (21 kills, .419, 10 digs), versus Oregon State (18 kills, .485, 17 digs), at Stanford (14 kills 18 digs), and at Arizona State (20 kills, 10 digs)...third on team in hitting percentage at .248...had seven double-doubles in Pac-10 contests (kills, digs)...named to the 2000 Pac-10 All-Freshman Team.
BAUTRE'S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
Attended a sports school at Riga, where she earned many honors as the top volleyball player...won the Riga Team Championship in both l997, and l998...at the Latvian Championships, team finished second in 1998 and 2000, third in 1999...she was selected MVP for the l998 Latvian Championships...member of the Latvian Junior National Team...placed first in Latvian Beach Volleyball...finished second in the 1998 Europeon Junior Beach Volleyball Championships in Greece.

Zanda Bautre (pronounced ZAHN-duh BOUGH-trah) was born October 22, 1980, at Riga...father, Vladislavs, is a basketball coach and mother, Inese, is a sports teacher...younger sister, Aiga (12/29/83) is studying and playing basketball in New York...enjoys cars, movies and the internet...graduated with a degree in international business at WSU in August 2003...now attending grad school in business.
