Day One - Complete Results
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Washington State men's golf team sits in 4th place after the first two rounds of the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational, Saturday.
The Cougars finished the day 2-over with a combined score of 578, trailing its nearest competition, Penn State, by only six strokes. Iowa currently leads the pack tallying a 20-under score of 556, with Iowa State close on its heels with a two-round score of 562 (-14).
Three members of the Washington State team are currently in the top-20 individuals for the tournament. Leading the Cougars is sophomore Kent Hagen, who carded a 72 during round one and a 71 in round two to bring his day one total to 143 (-1), this puts him tied for 12th place.
Washington State freshman Michael Anderson is in a tie for 16th, shooting a 71 in round one and a 73 in the round two, to finish the day even (144). Rounding out the three Cougars in the top-20 is senior teammate Trent Sanders who is tied for 20th with a combined score of 145 (+1). Sanders shot a 74 and a 71 in rounds one and two, respectively.
Other Cougars in the tournament are junior Hank Frame, tied for 23rd (146, +2) and senior Branden Dalton, 52nd (152, +8).
The Washington State men's golf team returns to action Sunday, when it will play the third and final round of the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational. The final day will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Central/7 a.m. Pacific.
