STANFORD, Calif. - The Washington State men's golf team finished the U.S. Intercollegiate in 12th place, Sunday.
During the third and final round, the Cougars posted a team score of 296 (+16) to finish the tournament with a cumulative score of 887(+47).
Oregon leaves Stanford, Calif., with the team title, shooting a final round score of 285 (+5) and a recording a three-day total of 841 (+1). Duck Daniel Miernicki took home the individual honors, recorded a 66 (-4) in the first and third rounds, which contributed to his score of 204 (-6) and his tournament victory.
The top finisher for Washington State was sophomore Kent Hagen, who finished tied for 29th. Hagen carded a 71 (+1) during round three, to bring his total score to 218 (+8).
"Kent played great," stated Cougar head coach Garrett Clegg. "Overall, this was a solid week for the guys."
Clegg added, "Today, we had a rough start, we dug ourselves into a deep hole. But these guys turned it around and played great at the end."
Other members of the Washington State team include freshman Michael Anderson, tied for 53rd (224, +14), senior Trent Sanders, tied for 56th (225, +15), junior Hank Frame, tied for 65th (228, +18), and redshirt-freshman Sang Lee, tied for 65th (228, +18).
The Cougars return to competition for the final time before the Pac-12 Championships when they travel to Iowa City, Iowa for the Hawkeye-TaylorMade Invitational April 14-15.
