EUGENE, Ore. - The Washington State men's golf team sits in 10th place after the first two rounds of the Duck Invitational, Monday.
The Cougars are led by junior Hank Frame, who carded a 2-under (70) in the first round and a 4-over (76) in the second round. Frame's two round score of 146 (+2) places him in a tie for 19th individually in the tournament.
Closely following Frame is Washington State senior Trent Sanders who recorded a two-round total of 149 (+5), which is highlighted by an eagle he recorded on the 16th hole of round one.
As a team, the Cougars have a two-round score of 597 (+21) and sit only two shot back from their nearest competitors San Jose State and Central Oklahoma, who are currently in a tie for eighth. Tournament host Oregon is currently on top of the leader board with a team score of 563 (-13).
"We had a rough day," commented Washington State Head Coach Garrett Clegg. "The guys are excited that they have another round tomorrow so that they can go out and play up to their potential. We are mentally prepared to go out tomorrow and clean up our play, especially on our Par-5s."
Other Cougars competing are sophomore Kent Hagen (151, +7), freshman Michael Anderson (152, +8) and redshirt-freshman Sang Lee (157, +13).
The third and final round is slated to begin Tuesday, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
