MOSCOW, Idaho -- Washington State University track and field competitors won four men's events Saturday at the Idaho Indoor Open at the Kibbie-ASUI Activity Center in Moscow.

Pac-10 triple jump champion Stephan Scott-Ellis (junior, Tacoma) stepped off the infield and onto the track to win the 200m dash in a time of 21.74 seconds and was also the top collegiate runner in the 60m dash running a lifetime-best time of 7.05 seconds in both the prelims and the final. Cougars swept the top places with Dana Wells second in a time of 22.38 and Ryan Barrett third in a time of 22.47.

All-American half-miler Joe Abbott (senior, Reno) won the 400m dash with a PR time of 48.66.

Richard Shroy (sophomore, Carson City, Nev.) won the mile in a PR time of 4 minutes, 19.82 seconds with Mack Young (sophomore, Redmond, Wash.) the runner-up in a PR time of 4:20.36.

Freshman Aric Walden (Newport, Wash.) won the men's 60m hurdles in a time of 8.20 after running a PR time Friday night of 8.14. Three more Cougars finished in the top five with Ramsey Hopkins second (8.29), Josiah Sims third (8.32) and Garrett Gerling fifth (8.45).

Several more Cougar men and women reached season and lifetime-best marks Saturday, the second day of competition at the University of Idaho.

"There are a lot of areas where we are seeing a lot of improvement and people starting to perform at a much higher level," Sloan said. "We have the Husky Classic next week and then back to Moscow in two weeks to tune-up for the Mountain Pacific Championship. That meet will be with BYU and Colorado in it now and it will be a terribly, terribly competitive meet."

The Cougars are set to compete next weekend at the Husky Classic in Seattle with a few competitors going to the Tyson Invite at Fayetteville, Ark.
