TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State scored three times in the third and fourth innings and the 10th-ranked Sun Devils posted an 8-2 victory over Washington State in Pacific-10 Conference baseball, Saturday.
After Arizona State (24-9, 7-4 Pac-10) scored a run in the bottom of the first against Washington State (14-16, 2-9 Pac-10) starter Chad Arnold (0-3), the Cougars tied the game in the second on freshman Jason Monda's first-career home run.
The Sun Devils tallied three times in the third on a walk and four hits to take a 4-1 lead and chased Arnold in the fourth with three runs in the fourth on a pair of walks and three hits.
The Cougars picked up a run in the sixth against Kramer Champlin (5-1) on a triple by Derek Jones and a ground out by Matt Argyropoulos. Arizona State closed the scoring in the eighth on a double and an error against reliever Kellen Camus.
The series concludes Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
