Get to Know Dustin Robinson

| By:
Pullman, Wash. (February 9, 2026)Dustin Robinson is one of the newest additions to the Washington State Baseball team. Robinson spent the last two years at Cypress College, a JUCO in Southern California and earned All-Orange Empire Conference first-team honors last season after hitting .349 with 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 52 RBI.

We recently had the opportunity to talk to redshirt-sophomore outfielder Dustin Robinson.

Why did you choose WSU?
I had a friend already on the team. I played with Ryan Skjonsby at Cypress so I talked to him a little bit and I really liked all the facilities and coaching staff. We talked about the kind of the culture built around Washington State, and there's a ton of that.

How did you get involved in baseball?
Growing up, my dad's buddy got me into it, actually. I never really liked baseball until I played when I was younger, and then I kind of just stuck with it.

How has your family supported you throughout your baseball career?
They've given me every reason to keep working. I don't think they've ever doubted me, they've never even kind of questioned my decisions. But they're my main reason, like I want to go to the next level for them, I want to be able to support them.

What's your favorite memory of playing baseball?
I would have to say last year in junior college when we went to the final four, that was just a cool experience in general. And we were super close last year too, we were all just like a family, like this team, and we went far in playoffs. It just made everyone that much closer.

How has the change been moving from Southern California to Pullman?
It's been different, just coming from SoCal, it's 70 degrees year-round and perfect. Then I come here and it's 30 degrees, but it's not too bad. I thought it'd be a lot worse, but I've heard it's the warmest winter we have had.

What's been your favorite part of playing baseball here so far?
I love it. I love all the guys on the team. I feel like we're very close, and that just makes a team that much more fun to be around. There are no groups in the team, we're all close and we all hang out, it's like a family. And I feel like that's a big part of why I'm having so much fun and why I enjoy coming to the facilities every day and putting in the work.

Do you have any pre or in-game superstitions?
I used to, and then I kind of just forgot about it. I used to put my batting gloves on a certain way, but I've kind of realized that it's more about the work that you put in, not the way that you put your gloves on.

What's been your favorite part of Pullman so far?
Baseball, I like it a lot. Then outside of baseball, I just hang out with all the baseball guys, so... it's just baseball.

What is something fans should know about you?
I love the outdoors. I like exploring, hiking, and riding dirt bikes. I like doing that, but I kind of had to stop that now that I'm playing baseball and everything. A couple guys on the team and I went fishing at the Snake River earlier in the year. That was pretty fun.

What are you looking forward to this season?
Being able to long travel. I've never really experienced that part, so it's going to be a big change, but it's going to be fun. (WSU opens the season playing their first 19 games on the road beginning with three at Alabama February 13-15
