Eugene, Ore. - The Washington State women's golf team finished the opening round of the Pacific-10 Conference Championships in a tie for ninth with Oregon State after firing a 317 (+29) at the par-72, 6,203 yard Eugene Country Club.

Redshirt junior Allison Travis led the Cougars with a 76 (+4) in the opening round. One of just two players returning from last year's team, Travis is currently in a tie for 31st.

The only other returning golfer from last season, Kristen Allard, is currently in a tie for 38th. The sophomore is only three strokes back from her teammate after carding a 79 (+70) in the first round.

Making their first appearance in the Pac-10 Championships are freshmen Ali Thompson and Emma Betland, and each is currently tied for 43rd. The duo has led the Cougars in eight out of nine tournaments in 2009-10. The two freshmen posted an 81 (+9) in the opening round.

Fellow freshman Ellen Park carded an 83 (+11) on day one, rounding out the Cougar lineup.

Play will continue Tuesday April 20th with tee times starting at 8:46 a.m.
