Results

WALNUT, Calif. -- Washington State track and field athletes were still competing late into the night Friday at the 52nd Annual Mt. SAC Relays, contested at Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Below is a summary of events with published results prior to 9 p.m. Friday. All the events the Cougars competed in Friday were University/Open events.

Freshman Shawna Fermin ran a lifetime-best 400m dash time of 54.99 seconds for fourth place overall and was second among collegians. Ryan Barrett ran a season-best 400m dash time of 48.07 for 10th place and Reny Follett also ran a season-best time of 49.39.

In the men's 100m dash, Greg Hornsby ran a PR time of 10.68 for seventh, Nate Washington's season-best time of 10.72 was 10th, and Brett Blanshan ran a season-best time of 10.82 for 17th. Cindy Robinson ran a 100m rime of 12.13 for 11th.

The WSU men's 4x400m relay team of Hornsby, Jeshua Anderson, Barrett and Follett won in a time of 3-minutes, 12.88 seconds while the WSU "B" team of J Hopkins, Kyle Schauble, Dana Wells and André Jennings finished seventh in a time of 3:19.12.

In the women's 200m dash, Princess Joy Griffey won her heat with a season-best time of 24.09w for fifth place while Jasmine Johnson-McKeown ran a PR time of 24.47for 10th and Cindy Robinson ran a time of 24.51w for 11th. Marlon Murray had the top time in the men's 200m at 21.57 for 13th and Blanshan ran a time of 21.65 for 20th.

David Hickerson won his heat of the men's 1500m in a PR time of 3:50.10 for 20th overall. In the women's 1500m, Courtney Zalud ran a PR time of 4:36.12 for 40th and Caroline Austin ran a PR time of 4:37.68 for 48th.

Shaquana Logan won her heat of the women's 100m hurdles in a season-best time of 14.16 for 16th while Angela Jensen ran a time of 14.19 for 18th and Brittnay Crabb ran a season-best time of 14.53 for 31st. Crabb ran a PR time of 1:00.62 in the 400m hurdles for 10th place and in the same event, Veronica Elseroad-Wall ran a time of 1:02.13 for 17th place.

Kyle Schauble ran a PR 110m hurdles time of 14.84 for 16th place.

In the jumps, Holly Parent equaled her PR high jumping 5-feet, 10 3/4 inches (1.80m) for second place while Christine Rice tied for fifth after clearing the bar at 5-7 (1.70m). Ryan Deese cleared 6-6 3/4 (2.00m) to tie for 10th in the men's high jump. Stephan Scott-Ellis long jumped 23-8 (7.21m), just 2 inches below his PR, for seventh place. Sean Wilson triple jumped 46-10 3/4 (14.29m) for 12th. In the women's event, Candace Missouri tripled jumped 38-3 1/2 (11.67m) for 11th. Kendall Mays pole vaulted 12-5 1/2 (3.80m) for ninth place.

Joe Bartlett threw the discus a PR distance of 171-9 (52.36m) for sixth place and tossed the shot put 53-2 3/4 (16.22m) for 10th. In the women's throws, Ashley Kenney threw the discus a distance of 155-6 (47.39m) for seventh. WSU heptathlete Johnson McKeown threw the discus144-11 (44.17m) for 17th and threw the shot put 38-9 1/2 (11.82m) for 15th.

The Cougars track and field teams continue competing Friday night and all day Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays.
