Top-Ranked Stanford Defeats Cougar Soccer

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford scored three goals in the first half and the top-ranked Cardinal defeated visiting Washington State 5-0 in Pacific-10 Conference women's soccer, Friday.

Teresa Noyola, Christen Press and Allison McCann each scored before intermission for Stanford (12-0-2, 3-0-0 Pac-10). Those goals came against Washington State (6-8-0, 1-2-0 Pac-10) goalkeeper Meghan Berlingo. Lindsay Taylor and Natalie Griffen added a goal each in the second half with Ari Byrd in net for the Cougars.

Washington State will conclude its road trip at California, Sunday. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.

COUGAR NOTES
The 5-0 win by Stanford equaled the largest margin of victory in the series between the Cardinal and Cougars...Washington State played all 22 student-athletes who made the trip to the Bay Area.
