PULLMAN, Wash. -- Sophomores Josh Akognon and Kyle Weaver each scored 13 points to lead Washington State past Lewis-Clark State 66-36 in a men's basketball exhibition game, Tuesday night.
Freshman Chris Matthews added 11 points for the Cougars who open their regular season Saturday at 5:30 p.m. when they host UC Riverside.
Washington State was sizzling from the field early, making eight of its first 11 field goals. The Cougars led 31-19 at the intermission.
WSU opened the second half on a 25-5 run, holding LCSC to one field goal in the first 12 minutes of the second half.
Keith Scarbrough led the Warriors with 12 points.
