PULLMAN, Wash. -- Senior Marcus Moore (Inglewood, Calif.) scored a game-high 15 points to lead Washington State to a 64-53 victory over EA Sports in men's exhibition basketball, Saturday.
Junior guard Thomas Kelati (Walla Walla) and junior forward Shami Gill (Mission, British Columbia) added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
The Cougars led 27-17 at halftime as WSU held EA Sports to 27 percent shooting from the field during the first stanza. WSU won the battle on the boards, outrebounding the visitors 37-32.
"We went to the boards hard," WSU Head Coach Dick Bennett said. "I wish we were that aggressive in the lane offensively. We have to develop the confidence of some kids who lack it right now."
The Cougars open the regular season, Thursday, Nov. 20 at the BP Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. Their opponent will be VMI and tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m., Pacific.
