ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Sophomore Katrina Stroh (Federal Way, Wash.) came up with her second game-winning goal of the season Sunday for a 1-0 win at Navy. The win was the third of the season for the Cougars (3-1-0).
Stroh, who also came up with the overtime game-winner at Utah in the Cougars' season opener finished on her fourth shot of the day, 10 minutes into the second overtime period beating the goalkeeper challenge.
Senior Deka DeWitt (Auburn, Wash.) set a school record with her 15th career assist. She is currently leading the team in points with six (two goals, two assists.)
Goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen (North Bend, Wash.) completed her first shutout of the season, making four saves in goal. The shutout was Jorgensen's 12th in her career, increasing her hold on the school record.
"It was a very successful road trip," head coach Dan Tobias said. "The team showed a lot of character. We came back in the game against East Carolina, and then really stayed patient and composed against Navy today."
The Cougars will make a third road trip next weekend to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where they will play the Mustangs and San Jose State. The trip will be a homecoming of sorts for the WSU coaching staff, all California natives, especially Cal Poly alum's Tobias and assistant coach Wendy Jones.
The Cal Poly game will be played Friday, September 15th at 7 p.m. PT and the San Jose State game will be played at Cal Poly Sunday, September 17th at 1 p.m. PT.
